Projects

The Higher Education Project

This project is a new initiative with the aim of demystifying higher education for college students, as well as an opportunity for university students to share their personal experiences and give tips on how to navigate the UCAS process, how to master useful skills at university and first insights into the legal profession for those considering a legal career even before university.

StreetLaw

Streetlaw is an organisation which believes we can improve society by educating about the law and government. We aim to equip young people with the confidence to pursue a career in law and dispel the “traditional” conception of who a lawyer is.

Ultimately, we want to inform, inspire and encourage the next generation of law students.

The Awareness Project

The Awareness Project is a new initiative with the aim to introduce primary school children to concepts such as human rights, social justice, stereotyping, gender equality, the law, voting, and elections in an accessible and fun way with role-plays, games, poster-making, and problem solving activities as methods of delivery. Children get the opportunity to engage with students and learn about key concepts within our society, fostering proactive attitudes from a young age.

The Saheli Asian Women’s Project provides support and advice to Asian women and their children who have endured domestic abuse and/or forced marriages. They aim to provide temporary refuge, counselling, and after care for women and their children who are fleeing from violent environments. On the Out

On the Out was formed to help former inmates integrate back into the community. They provide this help in many different forms: from offering companionship and emotional support to sourcing permanent housing or assisting with applications for benefits. On the Out places a huge emphasis on creating a positive and friendly environment and will assist a former inmate from the moment they are released and carrying on for as long as their help is needed.

The Pankhurst Trust (Incorporating Manchester Women's Aid)

The Pankhurst Trust brings together Manchester Women’s Aid and the Pankhurst Centre, with the aim of ensuring the powerful story of women who won the vote continues to inspire and motivate all members of society. The Pankhurst Trust implements the two-fold mission of challenging gender inequality and ensuring those suffering from domestic violence and abuse get the confidential help they need.

It offers a range of services to help women live a life free from fear, such as advice on staying safe in your own home, finding a safe place to live, finding someone to help you and discovering how health professionals can help. The Pankhurst Trust is made possible by an incredible group of volunteers, fundraisers and supporters with the shared aim of ensuring the safety and well-being of all.

Greater Manchester Coalition for Disabled People (GMCDP)

Our aim is to educate disabled people about their rights and possible access to justice. We hope to educate them on how they can go about challenging social services and benefit allocation decisions including how they can appeal a decision made. Moreover, we hope to address how they can appeal a blue badge decision and benefits decisions (for instance, PIP/ Universal Credit). Lastly, how they can deal with delays when applying for a Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG).

Trafford Domestic Abuse Service

The Trafford Domestic Abuse Services offer support to individuals and families living or working in the Trafford area who are suffering or who have suffered domestic abuse. We work together with the charity staff to provide information to their service users meant to help them break free from domestic abuse and its lasting consequences.
